Have a nice World UFO day

Knowing too much is dangerous. If you spread this knowledge it’s even more dangerous. We all know this rings true. And the media is reminding us ever so often that when you spread sensitive information, you will be punished. Whether this is entirely OK is a whole different story. Don’t we have a right to know that the world leaders of this world, whom we may or may not have elected, which election has been fair or not, having secrets from us? And if we have read the leaked information, aren’t we a thread as well?

I want to believe

I know a bit or two about aliens and UFOs. I will not claim to know it all and have the ability to name all sightings and have all the names of who is who in ufology. This is mainly because I tend to observe from the outside first before deciding to dive into the story. Also, other people are way better in the study of UFOs than I am. Some people may be even professionals. Me on the other hand simply believe.

It starts with a I want to believe. If I stumble upon a case that nibbles on my curiousity then I want to believe the story. Has Belgium really been invaded by UFOs a couple of nights in the 1990’s? That I want to believe. The most important question I had was Why are they there? No offence, but Belgium is hardly a place of interest. Sure, EU headquarters are there but the UFOs weren’t checking out Brussels. Nor were they trying to find out why their fries are so incredibly tasty or looking for the waffles recipe. Actually, the most iconic photograph of this phenomenon has been a hoax. Some clever prankster made a pretty realistic photo of what very much looked like what everyone else had seen.

That means the photo is fake. Case closed? I know that most likely it weren’t UFOs and perhaps some military planes were tested because who will care what flies over a small country such as Belgium (no offence). The file about this case is massive however and knows stories far beyond the photograph. This indeed remains filed under the I want to believe pile. Are the people who have reported sightings and the people who have investigated the sightings in danger? No and they never were.

Betty and Barney

I’d like to think I know a fair bit about the Betty and Barney Hill case and not just because I read the book. Here’s a case that continues to intrigue. Betty and Barney claimed to have been abducted onto an alien spaceship. Betty seemed to have handled it better than her husband Barney. She decided later in life to talk openly about it. It may have damaged her credentials because this is a case that is not just well documented but sounds solid, even if it may sound impossible for most standards. Was Betty Hill a thread? Hardly. Are people who support her and know and believe her story a thread? Hardly. Dismissed as slightly crazy at best.

Individuals who have witnessed or experienced something incredible aren’t a thread. Nor are they in danger, that is to say, in danger from any government force or beyond. Whether they are in outer worldly danger is a whole different story. Logically I would say they’re not. But anyway, that’s not what I want to talk about here. What of someone who has worked at let’s say Area 51 or associated comes forward and tells the world what they have seen and worked on. Now that’s another story. They actually have information that they shouldn’t have. Sure, you shouldn’t have seen the UFO, but you don’t know how it works. Some people may know this. And they shouldn’t talk too much.

Bob Lazar and area 51

Someone who did is for instance Bob Lazar. His records of where he went to college are seemingly entirely erased. Track him and you won’t find him in the files where he claims to have studied or worked. And that will make any person suspicious. Why lie about that right? In the case of Lazar they haven’t been able to erase everything and he is traceable, even if it is unconventional (his name appears in a printed phone book from the university. Which comes to show that it’s not always a bad thing to keep things in your possession too long.). This is a man who knows a lot. He is able to tell you how your typical UFO may work. His information and story about element 115 is unchanged for 30 years.

Is he under surveillance? You might say so. When he talked about classified information on tape, even without the immediate purpose to expose this to the world, his house was raided. The FBI was looking for ‘some specific papers’. Whether they found them is unclear to me, but I suspect they’re not. To Lazar is was another crazy chapter in his life after coming out, anonymously at first, about his research at S4. His life and that of his family, has changed. Here is a brilliant man, he builds rockets on motorcycles and doesn’t blow himself up while riding them, who has done some incredible research. And he believes we have a right to know. Some people disagree and unfortunately for him and the rest of the world, these people seemingly possess quite some power.

How UFOs fly

When does someone know too much? Lazar has shared his knowledge but probably not all of it. He tells us about the Gravity Propulsion System inside a UFO and will tell you that it flies vertically and not horizontally as often pictured. This doesn’t sound very aerodynamic but he explains and it makes sense. He knows these things. He has told about these things. The people who have listened to him, and think that what he says makes sense and believe him, will automatically know these things too. Of course they lack all the technical details, minor and large. Are they knowing too much as well? Do they have to be afraid that their homes are being raided as well?

Well, no. Because they have not been inside the department that is doing ‘stuff’ we shouldn’t know about for whatever reasons there may be. And it’s incredibly easy to dismiss these people as crazy. Chances are that you are reading this and if you’ve come this far you think ‘But Mel, do you really believe all this? Do you really believe in UFO? I thought you were smarter than that.’ You may think that and it wouldn’t matter that much. But since the 1950s and certainly since the 1960s the entire UFO phenomenon has been ridiculed. It was scientifically investigated at the same time. Most people will think twice by saying they believe something to be true about UFOs. No one wants to be told they’re stupid after all.

Nothing new

But people who have worked at Area 51 and related places, who have worked for the government investigating strange aerial phenomenon, that’s another story. Reporters who are digging too deep could be at risk as well. Everyone who is capable of harming the current system of capitalism is at risk. That’s not you reading this and me writing this. The group of civilians who could do this is way too small. But before they start to grow in numbers, it’s best to silence the ones who know. It’s nothing new. Nikolai Tesla claimed that electricity was a power source that comes for free. It’s possibly to provide every home, luxurious and slums alike, with a simple but effective tool that will provide unlimited power. Well, that is a blow for capitalism isn’t it? Tesla, a brilliant mind, therefore had a rough life.

I know I have told this story before and I will keep on telling it. Just because astronomy and physics are interests of mine, doesn’t mean I can’t and shouldn’t believe in what some people may call silly stuff like UFOs. As long as people are being silenced and intimidated for the things they know and may or may not yet have said, I say we should be aware of the greater picture. We should continue to explore the stars, of course, make progress on our planet. But UFOs are very much real. Believing so may result in being called dumb. But if that’s the case, well, so be it.

UFOs exist and this is what you should know

Of course UFOs exist. They always have been and probably always will be. If you can’t identify a flying object, then it simply is an unidentified flying object. It’s that plain simple. But what is an unidentified flying object? Well, it’s unidentified so we don’t know. It could be a secret military object, with or without alien technology hailed from the 1947 Roswell incident, it could be an extraterrestrial object, with or without aliens inside or something completely different after all. We. Don’t. Know.

More and more “mainstream media” are now reporting that military people have been seeing these objects and are now coming forward that they’ve seen them. Or rather, it’s made public. Some newspapers and news sites have picked up this story. Some don’t. It’s not the first time reports are coming out that unidentified objects have been seen by military people and pilots. What is different this time? The outcry from the UFO community. And it is not helping one bit.

In your face!

“Booyah, in your face I told you so!” is never a good look and this rings true in this case as well. It looks like people within the UFO community are celebrating that finally they have mainstream coverage. And that disclosure is now happening. And that’s a good thing of course. But they are also harassing news outlets that haven’t covered the story (for reasons, I suppose) and are harassing the science world with “Hey, why aren’t you saying anything now, you twats?”.

It is not pretty.

I know the UFO community has worked hard on making ufology acceptable, to be accepted for their belief that UFOs are out there. In cases of mainstream exposure like this time (it has happened before mind you), you hear them say that it’s always been about the unidentified notion, not aliens persé. I’m afraid that this last thing isn’t necessarily true. If ufology was only about the notion of unidentified and willing to unravel secret military on-goings, aliens would never ever even been mentioned.

Hassle the cattle

Okay, here’s the thing. UFO has a nasty name. It’s been ridiculed for decennia. It stands for believing in little green men from outer space with funny antennas on their heads. It stands for greys only here to hassle the cattle and anal probing humans. UFO stands for crazy people. This is a problem. It is a real problem. Because believing in extraterrestrial intelligent life, believing that it might be possible that they know about us and have been here already, doesn’t necessarily mean you’re crazy.

I believe it’s possible. I believe UFOs have been seen by military people, pilots and other people. It may be secret objects, it might be extraterrestrial. I don’t know. I think it’s good that media is writing about these things without making fun of the subject. It’s highly refreshing. It’s good that people who would never look for these stories, can read about this. And if it’s highly secret stuff, we may want to know about it at some point, right? It is however not a good idea to harass other people that they’ve been stupid. Just because you’ve been labeled stupid doesn’t give you that same right. No one has that right.

Story of the century

The news item that people from the Navy have seen UFOs is not the story of the century. The story of the century is either that the UFOs are indeed 100% confirmed military flight planes capable of destroying half the Earth with one single shot being kept a secret for over half a century, or exotic life forms stepping out of these UFOs. If not, it’s a news story, an exciting one that possibly leads to more information about these objects, but by no means it’s “the story of the century”.

The news items are normalising UFO sightings and that is a positive thing and an incredible step forward in what may indeed lead towards a possible story of the century. The behaviour by groups of UFO people harassing people and shouting Booyah I told you so is damaging this leap forward. Am I saying that ufology is currently damaging their own progress? Yes I do.

Hard work is paying off

Credit where credit is due because the UFO community has been working hard at being taken seriously. And they have succeeded in some aspects actually. News outlets have been reporting more about UFO related stories in a normal and matter of fact way. Documentaries on the subjects have been exposed to an incredible large audience by for instance Netflix and bookstores are more and more stocking books on the subject. New books will even be reviewed in newspaper without completely slamming the subject down. It’s more that we (yes we, because in a way I’m UFO people too) could have ever hoped and dreamed of. Don’t ruin this with the first sign of success.

What also bothers me, and has always bothered me, is the slamming down of ‘these science people’. ‘These people’ apparently are the enemy. I won’t deny that science can be quite degrading towards the subjects of UFOs and aliens. At the same time science, and astrobiology in particular, is more than ever working on definite proof that we’re not alone in the universe. No, they’re not looking for evidence of UFOs. They’re looking for life forms. Which also could be the news of the century.

Stay classy!

Is that it though? Does the UFO community want to be the ultimate truth as the news of the century and is science search for alien life threatening this? It’s a ridiculous question. But so is the harassing of ‘these science people’ only because they’re not investigating or acknowledging UFOs. Investigating UFOs is the work of ufologists, doing science is the work of scientists. These two can coexist and essentially help each other. I’m looking in both directions in this case.

Even though I’m incredibly annoyed by the behaviour of ufology these days, I will continue to follow. Because it’s not just about slamming down science, newspapers and each other for that matter. It’s the continuous quest for recognition. The serious (and less serious) investigations that are still being made. It’s the reporting of sightings and the research of these sightings, sometimes saying it’s just been a satellite (or 60) and sometimes saying it really can’t be explained.

Keep at it UFO people! But, for everything that we stand for, stay classy. Just stay classy and be polite and point people to the new findings, not harass them for not paying attention at this time. That will get us another big step forward. The current state of ufology, I’m afraid not. Don’t ruin what you build up so passionately is what I’m saying. I know you’re just passionate but you also know I’m right. Stay classy guys!

Aliens aren’t naked but what if they’re not aliens?

One of the grey alien aspects that just doesn’t add up is that they are described as being naked. If you have traveled numerous light-years and have that extraordinary technology, you still face the challenge of entering territory that is different from your own. You’re bound to need some sort of protection, especially when visiting Earth which is terribly polluted. Furthermore they’re bound to be scientists so they will be needing tools, so a bag of some sorts would be quite useful as well. Or, if they are less friendly in nature, they will be carrying weapons, on the body or elsewhere.

Aliens witnessed

So, naked aliens are unlikely and if their culture doesn’t do clothes and they know they can’t be harmed by our environment, more power to them, but tools (and / or weapons) need to be carried one way or the other. Yet, people claim to have seen them. The aliens from Roswell are said to have been naked. The aliens from Close Encounter of the Third Kind (fictional) are pictured naked and have been created to the average report of the encounters the film is about.

Are all these witnesses crazy and have they had a crazy illusion? Our mind is a wondrous thing so that is possible. But let’s assume they have indeed seen something physical. A naked being? Well, there’s one theory that would actually support that. As a firm believer that naked aliens just won’t visit us, this theory (of mine – if others have the same idea, then I haven’t read it yet) is quite a big deal.

Artificial intelligence

We think we’re far in the development of AI but so far we don’t have to worry yet. We’re not going to being run over by AI embodied by robots any time soon. But the development of such a thing is going faster than the average person might expect. Before we know it we have humanoid robots fighting our wars for us, which is a much better idea, if we really have to act to war, than dropping an a-bomb. But also in our daily lives AI is becoming a steady part of our life. There’s Siri. Alexa. Even the automatic vacuum cleaner is a form of AI. Keep on developing and we create the real perfect image of ourselves. Smart and indestructible. With an unlimited time span.

This is where it gets interesting. That would mean that we would be able to send these AI, shaped to our image if we want to, in a rocket ship to explore the stars. Using the right material we don’t need to worry about too much G Force, we can speed up the ship as fast as we can possibly manage. They can fly forever, land on any surface in any galaxy and explore. If we would create an android to our image, like Data from Star Trek, we provide it with clothes. But of it doesn’t, would it need clothes? Would a white android not look silly with clothes on? We would think it does. So we will send them on their quest naked. Regardless of the fact that they can do all the things we can – and even better so.

Androids

We don’t know what extraterrestrial life may look like. What if they do not look like greys at all and they are simply androids send from another galaxy, send out to explore strange new worlds? Or androids from another dimension for that matter? They probably don’t even need tools. So what we think to be extraterrestrials may simply be their robots. Which would explain how they could travel such a distance. And their nakedness.

Why haven’t we heard from the aliens?

One of the most heard questions about aliens is “If there are aliens, why haven’t we heard from them yet?”. This is also known as the Fermi Paradox. But just because we haven’t heard from aliens, doesn’t mean they’re not out there. Here I’m merely focusing on the reasons why we haven’t heard from them. We’re here and listening, so, what gives?

They haven’t found us yet

If they don’t know we exist, how are they going to send us messages? How are they going to visit us? They don’t know where we are and where to look! And quite frankly, there are many species on our own planet unexplored as well. They have no idea there’s this species that calls itself intelligent out there, that will tag them and partly destroy them as soon as they tale notice of them. And we don’t know they are there so we can’t tag them in the first place. Ignorance can be bliss. We just haven’t been noticed yet.

And think of this. We’re just a tiny planet in a tiny solar system with a tiny sun. The chances an alien civilization will have found our star may be likely, but will they know planets are orbiting it? And will they know how many and are they able to find the rock planets? Mercury, Venus, Mars and Earth really aren’t all that big and relatively close to the sun. Seen from Saturn we’re nothing more than a pale blue dot. We barely see ourselves from within our solar system, how are we traceable from outside, or even outside our galaxy? If they’re equally advanced like us, it’s very likely they haven’t found us yet, just like we haven’t found them. For all we know, we might even be the most advanced species in the universe.

We’re not interesting to them

If an alien civilisation is able to detect and contact us, chances are that they have done this before. They’re probably part of a multi-galactic alliance with numerous of species. To them, finding life in the universe is common and the real question is why on some worlds or solar systems life hasn’t evolved at all. Finding life in the universe is not that special to them. It’s more something that they expect to find.

If that’s the case, they’re a highly advanced race. Benefited from other races from various galaxies. They are way more advanced than we are. They know how to explore the universe way beyond our imagination. They’ve found us. But with all the other advanced civilizations they know, we’re just not interesting enough. We’re just galactic infants who barely made it to our own moon. Hardly impressive. We’re not trying to talk to ants either. So why would they want to talk to us? They may observe until they get bored. Some nerds may stay behind and continue to observe us. They may also be the laughing stock of their species for doing so.

We have, but it’s not common knowledge for whatever reason that may be

Roswell, 1947. An alien craft crashes. Two passengers die due to the impact, but one survives. It causes a stir but soon the word is out. It was just a weather balloon. Move along, nothing to see here. Just the military picking up the pieces and taking the evidence away. Then, Area 51 comes in existence, and is being denied.

While the pieces of alien spacecraft are being investigated and studied, the lone survivor is being patched up. They’re able to tell where they’re from. They have a wealth of knowledge and technological skills way beyond our own. They’re able to phone home. They’re telling about this species of humans and they agree on sharing information among each other. They study us. In return we get they’re knowledge. Only, us and we are not the same group of people. Us don’t know what we know. Why? Ask we, whoever they are.

We have but we’re not listening

It’s life! It’s intelligent life! Look, they have satellites! They must be intelligent! We must send them a message that we are here. It will be such a surprise! It’s how we would react and it’s very likely that an alien civilization will react the same. So they send out a message to us. With coordinates telling us where they are. DNA information. Images, sound files. A warm welcome. Send to our planet. But they will not get a responds.

Hope

Let’s just hope the sending party is advanced enough to understand that we’re not being impolite and see the radio silence as an act of war. And where I say radio silence, it should read whatever the form of communication they decided to use to contact us. Not being on the same wavelength is a saying used to explain that two persons simply doesn’t understand each other due to different interests or intelligence level. It can also be used to explain why we haven’t heard from them. We’re using a different wavelength. Hence we are receiving but are simply not listening with the right tools. And this goes vice versa. Our wavelengths may have reached another civilisation but they’re not listening to that frequency.

We may not be alone. But maybe we’re just very lonely.

What if Voyager 1 crashes

Just imagine this. You’re out in the field. Doing research, going for a walk, just relaxing, whatever. Suddenly you hear a sound and you look up to the sky. An object is flying through the air. An Unidentified Flying Object? You follow it with your eyes until you notice that it will fall down pretty close to you. It’s going to crash. You seek shelter but you keep watching the object. It crashed and you get up to look what has fallen from the sky.

Pause right here. Before we go any further we need to set some things straight. You are on a planet but not on our solar system. You have vision, otherwise you wouldn’t have seen it. And you have a hearing device or else you wouldn’t have heard it. You are not too small to have been completely ignorant of the object and you’re not too big either. It could have crushed you. You have been aware of it. You know to check it out, you have intelligence. You are what we on Earth would call an extraterrestrial intelligence or in short, an alien.

In this story it’s important you have eyes that can see and ears that can hear. Intelligence will help you too and you’re about the size as are the humans on earth. What are the odds of that? You have no idea and neither have we.

Back to the object. You’re walking towards it and notice that it’s a wondrous thing. The first thing you notice is the disc. It’s a little under 4 meters in diameter. There are sticks attached to the disc and a box. What the hell is this thing? It looks a bit like an old satellite. How did this end up here? There were no news reports about old satellites still up in the air. Didn’t anyone see this thing coming?

Probably not. It’s probably too ancient to be picked up by current means of communication and detection. Didn’t it appear on any radars? You look around. So far no one else is heading your way. You have time to examine this machine, which may be up to 800 kg in weight.

OK, pause! If you are being picky you now may ask the question how the weight can be estimated to 800 kg. Weight depends on gravity. We could say that the weight of the object is about 10 times the weight of the full grown alien. If we are already assuming this alien can see, hear, feel and walk, we may as well assume they are about the same size.

You walk around it. Astonishing! This is ancient! It must have come here through a wormhole or something. Which may explain the late detection, if so, of this object. This must be from a civilization that just has learned to communicate around the globe and beyond! And if that is the case, they must have left a message.

With still no one else coming to the object (which is indeed a little strange but is convenient for the story), you careful try to touch it. Amazing! You study how everything is connected to each other and then notice there’s a compartment. Your heart is pounding, what would be in there? You see something that shines with the little light that hits it. Carefully to not break anything you reach out and retrieve something you have never ever seen in your life.

It’s a gold disc. What a rare element, a weird choice to create something so… what is this? You flip it around and see that the other side has grooves in it. Peculiar. It has a darker ring on which the grooves are much further apart and something is written or drawn in the middle. There’s a hole in the middle. You flip it around again and see a flat surface with circles, lines and squares. There seems to be a code on it but you aren’t sure. What you are sure of that this is worth a fortune, even if someone has sketched into it.

You decide to keep the disc and leave the rest of the object to the scientist. No one will know you took it. You call the authorities who order you to get away as far away from the thing as possible. No, you haven’t touched it, which is good. They however have questions for you. You leave it for later and go home.

At home you store the valuable disc and head over to the news device. Scientists have yet to confirm but the object seems to have traveled from another solar system. This means that there is indeed another civilization out there. They may not be as advanced as we are judging from the device but they are out there. Scientists are looking for a message. It could be anything because we know nothing about them. For all we know the device could be emitting signals over and over again trying to tell them something.

You smile and are excited. You found that thing. You hope that whatever signal the ting is emitting is a friendly one and that you didn’t find a war machine. That would look bad.

What the alien has found is of course the Voyager 1 (or 2). We send a golden record, an LP, to them assuming they know how to play it. Changes are that the aliens don’t even know what a record is and are looking for signals from the satellite that correspond with their own ways of communicating. And our alien friend? He has something so valuable in his house, namely gold, that with the fame he gets for being the one first at the scene of the crash, he starts to become paranoid. He may be the wealthiest alien on the planet but no one can ever know. For all we know we have caused an alien to go insane by sending some music and sounds from the planet Earth.

Extraterrestrials and the multiverse

It’s a new idea that aliens may be beings from another dimension or beings from a multiverse. It’s not a weird thought. Why couldn’t it be that beings from another dimension have found a way to peak into our world. We would do the same if we knew how to do that, if we even knew what the other dimensions are in the first place.

But are beings from the multiverse or other dimensions extraterrestrials? The dimensions are present on our own planet. We may not have discovered them, but they are present in our environment. The same goes for the multiverse. It’s another reality but still on Earth. It’s like the stepping in the Long Earth series created by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. With each step you reach another parallel world but you are still on earth. In reality it won’t be as easy as with a box and a potato (then again, who knows), but even when you are in a place you won’t recall as being in Earth, you haven’t left the planet.

There are many ways in which people describe their encounter with an alien, a grey, or any other type. Some people even describe seeing the being only half. This could suggest that indeed the beings are from another dimension or a multiverse, and are peaking inside our world. They may not even realise that they are being seen. It would make sense in some cases.

Does that mean that there are no extraterrestrials? The universe is big. And if in that big universe various dimensions and multiverses exist, just try to imagine how many different possibilities exist in which life could have spawned. We might see Mars as a dead planet, hypothetically speaking the planet could be teeming with with life, just in a different multiverse than we are in. Run this through the entire universe. Mind blown yet?

I very much believe extraterrestrial intelligence exist and that there is a possibility they have been on our planet. Whether in our multiverse or a different one is up to debate. There is more to life and the universe than the naked eye is able to see.
